Sun Chemical manufactures the "coloured base", the indispensable constituent for its inks, in "mother plants" - highly advanced, specialised production units located in several countries. The coloured base is made of high-value pigments, resins and solvents that meet very strict and constant quality standards. This centralised production approach allows for very high output volumes of different sizes, all at a very competitive cost. The coloured base is vital for key visual attributes of the end product such as gloss, transparency and shade. It is also responsible for the strength, light fastness and underlying rheology (flow) properties of the printing ink. These capabilities only materialise once high quality "technology varnishes" have been added, which generally takes place at the customer's local premises and to their exact specifications. The finished printing ink is therefore tailored to the customer's profile, including his particular order configuration and the specific printing equipment used. In addition, the technology varnishes influence a number of other characteristics such as adhesion, flexibility and various resistances to rubbing, scratching, heat and water. In addition, we can also supply the appropriate lacquers and coatings, metallic and special colours, and anything you might need for Hexachrome printing.
