Sun Chemical’s traditional four colour process inks are designed in compliance with customer’s colour charts, gradation curves, press configuration and application needs.  The implementations of the latest raw material technology in terms of resins, pigments and additives, are applied to conventional inks in order to transfer these benefits to our customers. Improved news inks are specially formulated to print on enhanced newspapers stocks, which have an uneven surface, and high level of absorption.  The selection of high molecular weight resins enhances the print properties of the ink, along with the inclusion of special additives to prevent the ink from penetrating the paper, and ensuring dot definition of the printed product. At times, special printed effects or results are required when using conventional ink systems.  Sun Chemical offers a wide range of products capable of solving these specific requirements:
  • Matt Extender: Produces a semi-matt effect even when using gloss inks
  • Overprint Extender: Provides extra gloss to magazine covers, etc…
  • Anti-penetrating Extender: Enhances print-quality on low-grade papers
  • Anti-rub Extender: Improves ink film hardness
  • Fast Drying Extender: Speeds the drying of inks for special applications, or when printing on paper with low absorption
Matt inks are predominantly used to print fashion magazines or niche catalogues, resulting in an appealing printed finish.  Special additives alter the reflection of light, resulting in a matt appearance, which is attractive to the advertising and publishing markets. Reduktol® is a special ink formulated to meet certain customer demands, in order to reduce the amount of toluene retained in the printed product, and is utilized to meet the toluene legislation constrains.  The Reduktol® system developed by Sun Chemical, may reduce the amount of toluene retained by up to 80%, depending on the substrate used.
