Sun Chemical Introduces Polymer Encapsulated Aluminum Pigments
CINCINNATI, OHIO, USA – November 18, 2009 – Sun Chemical Performance Pigments launched its line of new Polymer Encapsulated Aluminum Pigments into the Chinese market for use in consumer electronics, automotive trim, and other single coat applications that require a high level of acid and base resistance or non-conductivity.
An expansion of the SunMetallics® aluminum pigment product line, these encapsulated aluminum pigments are designed to maintain the brilliance and gloss of the base pigments while resisting tarnishing in areas that are exposed to acidic or basic materials. Additionally, the polymer encapsulation makes the pigments less conductive which is essential for the consumer electronics market.
“The consumer electronics market continues to be an area of increasing growth for paint manufacturers,” said Mehran Yazdani, Vice President of Marketing, Sun Chemical Performance Pigments. “This expansion of our SunMetallics product line will provide our customers with more options from which to choose to meet the stringent demands of the coatings marketplace.”
A full global launch is scheduled for first quarter 2010. The Polymer Encapsulated Aluminum Pigments will be manufactured through Sun Chemical’s joint venture with Nantong DIC in Nantong, China.
