Association of Graphic Communications Presents "Power of Communications" Award To Sun Chemical's Edward E. Barr

Fort Lee, NJ - May 17, 2002 -- Edward E. Barr, chairman, Sun Chemical Group B.V., and chairman of Kodak Polychrome Graphics, was honored last night by the New York area Association of Graphic Communications (AGC). Mr. Barr received the association's prestigious "Power of Communications" Award at the organization's 50th annual Franklin Event, held at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in New York City.

"I have worked with Ed for thirty years," said Mel Ettinger, chairman of AGC's Franklin Event committee. "During that time, he has helped to build two highly successful companies serving the graphic arts industry around the world. He has also made a serious personal commitment to our educational institutions, which is very much in line with the Franklin Event's support of such national educational endeavors as the Literacy Partners organization."

In addition to Mr. Barr, Power of Communications Awards were presented to Marc Reisch, President and CEO of Quebecor World and Diane Romano, President of AGToseven. Mr. Barr represented the Industry Suppliers category, while Mr. Reisch and Ms. Romano represented Print Media and Pre Media, respectively.

At the same time, the Association presented its Franklin Award for Distinguished Service, (named for founding father and printer Benjamin Franklin) to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Since its inception in 1952, the Franklin Event has witnessed many special moments. In recent years, the Franklin Award has been presented to broadcaster Larry King, Governor Mario Cuomo, Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Senator Al D'Amato and John Walter, former President and COO of AT&T and R.R. Donnelley. The Power of Communications Awards have also been presented during this period to Michael R. Cunningham, CEO, Cunningham Graphics International; David J. Scholes, President and CEO, Rapp Collins Worldwide, New York; Frank D. Steenburgh, Senior Vice President and Worldwide General Manager Graphic Arts Business, Xerox Corporation; Robert M. Johnson, Chairman & CEO, Browne & Company; Donna Hanover, WNYW TV-Fox 5; Alair Townsend, Crain's; Liz Smith, Columnist; David Jurist and Fred Goldstein, Tanagraphics; John Dreyer, Pitman Company; and Lawrence Herbert, Pantone

Last year, the group presented the Franklin Award to U.S. Senator Bill Bradley of New Jersey. Power of Communications honors went to Jeff Jacobson, CEO of Kodak Polychrome Graphics (Industry Supplier); Frank Stillo, CEO of Sandy Alexander (Print Media); and Terry Tevis, COO of paper2print.com (New Media).
