Edward E. Barr Honored by Web Offset Association; First Supplier to Receive VISION Award

Fort Lee, NJ - May 06, 2002 -- Edward E. Barr, Chairman, Sun Chemical Group B.V., received special recognition this week at the 2002 Web Offset Association's (WOA) 50th annual convention in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mr. Barr, who is also Chairman of Kodak Polychrome Graphics, Sun Chemical's prepress joint venture with Kodak, was inducted into WOA's honorary Web Offset Society earlier in the week. Today he was presented with the Web Offset Association's prestigious VISION Award. The VISION Award was inaugurated four years ago to honor heatset web offset industry executives who reach an unsurpassed level of excellence and achievement in the industry. The association's directors elect the winner.

"Mr. Barr is a true leader of our industry," noted Tom Basore, Executive Director of the Web Offset Association. "During his career with Sun Chemical, he has gone far beyond the standard obligations to become a dominant force in shaping the business of heatset printing."

This is the fourth VISION Award to be presented by the Web Offset Association. Previous winners included 1999 inaugural winner Harry V. Quadracci of Quad/Graphics, Inc.; Roger Perry of Perry Printing (2000); and John Frautschi of Webcrafters, Inc. (2001). Mr. Barr is the first representative of a supplier organization to receive the honor. His co-honoree for 2002 is another printer, Tom Brinkman, founder of Metro Web Corporation.

"The VISION Award is dedicated to the spirit of those industry pioneers whose hard work and determination have created a vibrant, growing, and changing industry," said Mr. Basore. "The fact that Mr. Barr represents a supplier company should come as no surprise. Clearly, the Association's Directors believe that key suppliers have made great contributions to our industry. This recognition reflects the value that high quality printing ink brings to our industry," he concluded.

The Web Offset Association of the Printing Industries of America, Inc., is headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia.
