Sun Chemical To Acquire Bayer Corporation's Organic Pigments Plant Located at Bushy Park, South Carolina

Fort Lee, NJ - February 19, 2002 -- Sun Chemical Corporation, the world's leading manufacturer of printing inks and organic pigments, has agreed to purchase Bayer Corporation's organic pigments business, located in Bushy Park, South Carolina. Pending approval by regulatory groups, transfer of ownership is expected April 1, 2002.

The Bushy Park, South Carolina, facility manufactures Bayer's Indofast®, Perrindo®, Quindo, and Palomar® pigments. These organic pigments are used in coatings for automotive, industrial and architectural applications and for coloring plastics and fibers. The Bushy Park facility employs approximately 180 people.
