Sun Chemical Names Brad Bergey Chief Operating Officer of Kohl & Madden

Northlake, IL - November 06, 2003 -- Sun Chemical has named Brad Bergey as Chief Operating Officer of Kohl & Madden, its business unit devoted to inks used by sheetfed, forms and combination printers in the commercial market, according to Mike Murphy, President, Sun Chemical North American Inks. It is planned that Bergey will succeed George Dunn, the current President of Kohl & Madden, when he retires in April 2004.

Bergey began his career with Sun Chemical in 1978, and has held several key positions in operations and finance management. Most recently, he has served as a Sun Chemical corporate vice president, leading the company’s initiative to establish a Customer Value System. In addition, he has had responsibility for the company’s operations in Canada and Mexico.

Dunn began at Kohl & Madden in 1980 as Executive Vice President and became Kohl & Madden‘s chief executive in 1994. Murphy said Dunn has been responsible for the continued significant growth and success of the business, which has resulted in Kohl & Madden being recognized as the industry leader in specialty, high-value-added offset inks.

"Brad brings to Kohl & Madden proven leadership skills, an established reputation within the industry and a broad knowledge of Sun Chemical’s operations," Murphy said. "We expect that he and George will make a smooth transition that keeps Kohl & Madden on its growth path within Sun Chemical North American Inks."

"Kohl & Madden has been a market leader in the manufacturing of quality printing inks for over 90 years. The full name and the initials K&M have a strong brand loyalty, especially in the sheetfed market," Bergey said. "My plans are to leverage the strong brand name of K&M along with the synergies that we have being part of Sun Chemical Corporation."
