Vivitek Kicks Off Sales to Graphic Arts Industry, Offering Wide Array of Printing Products, Services

Fort Lee, NJ - September 29, 2003 -- VivitekTM, a new supplier to the printing industry, offering a broad range of products and services, is launching operations across the United States during the Graph Expo 2003. The show is being held Sept. 28 to Oct. 1 in Chicago.

Sun Chemical announced the formation of Vivitek, an independently operated division, in May 2003. At Graph Expo, Vivitek will offer product line overviews and have representatives available in Booth 812, along with other Sun Chemical divisions.

"Printers have been telling us they want to be able to buy from a single source the many items they use across their prepress, pressroom and finishing operations," said William Glass, Vivitek General Manager. "They emphasize the need for a supplier who puts together a package of diverse products selected and developed to perform together and then backs it up with quick access to technical support for the entire product line. Easy management of the supply chain and timely delivery are also key factors."

"Vivitek’s operations have been designed to meet these precise needs," Glass said. "The value we offer customers is the ability to source products that perform well together with a single contact for placing orders or receiving the technical service they need to help keep their operations running smoothly and profitably. At Vivitek, we offer answers. Not excuses."

Michael Stone, Vice President of Sales, adds: "It’s time for a leading supplier to stop the ‘blame-game’ and provide answers to the customer’s needs."

Vivitek’s integrated product line ranges from fountain solutions, web conditioners, washes and blankets to personal protective equipment, pH meters, densitometers and spectrophotometers. The company has begun distributing well-known brands, but also is introducing Vivitek-branded products which, Glass says, will become standards for the industry. By leveraging Sun Chemical’s ink and application experience, Vivitek branded products have been designed and developed to deliver higher performance and improved efficiency. In addition, Vivitek will provide tools, systems, processes and consulting services in such areas as color and environmental management, and press optimization.

Some of the major printing supply companies offering products through Vivitek include: Baseline, BBA, Beta, Burnshine, ColorMetrix, Gretag, ITWMark-Tex, Justrite, Lamson, Olfa, OxyDry, PRI, QEA, Reeves, Sprayway, and X-Rite,

While it’s a new business, Vivitek has assembled a highly experienced team of industry experts, capable of providing technical support for the products it sells. Vivitek also will be able to draw on the technical resources of Sun Chemical, where needed.

At Graph Expo, Vivitek is highlighting MicroSurf, its new web conditioner, which is designed to improve press delivery and eliminate the need for silicone and anti-stat. “This product, which is being run in a number of pressrooms, has demonstrated the ability to prevent problems like silicone streaking while significantly reducing static, and improving gloss and press efficiency,” said Peter Bombik, Vivitek Product Leader. “It’s a game-changer,” he added.

Vivitek is also featuring its new line of fountain solutions for heatset and sheetfed printing. “These founts have wide operating window to work with a wide variety of inks, presses and substrates to produce crisp, sharp dot structures,” Bombik said.

During the show, Vivitek also will demonstrate the many practical ways customers can conduct business, accessing product line information, MSDSs, order history and placing orders, 24-hours a day with Vivitek.

Vivitek, which will distribute throughout North America, has its headquarters in Fort Lee, NJ.
