Sun Chemical Announces Partnership with Bergen-Hudson Red Cross
Provides Space for Emergency Operations, Meetings

Fort Lee, NJ - July 30, 2003 -- As part of its ongoing efforts to support the local community, Sun Chemical announced that it was establishing a partnership with the Bergen-Hudson chapter of the American Red Cross to better serve northern New Jersey.

Sun Chemical, headquartered in Fort Lee, NJ, offered space in its Carlstadt, NJ facility as a contingency Emergency Operations Center that the Red Cross would use in the event its primary facility was incapacitated. The state-of-the-art facility can provide up to 32 phone lines, fax capabilities, access to cable television and high-speed Internet connections.

"Promoting safety and being a good neighbor are two issues we feel strongly about here at Sun Chemical," said Dr. John Rooney, vice president technology, Sun Chemical. "By cooperating and providing resources to the Red Cross, we are supporting and promoting those initiatives."

Sun Chemical also offered Red Cross storage space to house disaster supplies (cots, blankets, comfort kits, etc.), and space at one of its facilities to park a trailer of emergency supplies. Currently, the Red Cross holds monthly Disaster Action Team Meetings in Sun Chemical's Carlstadt facility.

"The partnership with Sun Chemical in Carlstadt has made Red Cross disaster action team meetings more accessible for Bergen and Hudson because of its central location," stated Mona Bookman, director of emergency services at the Bergen-Hudson Red Cross. "Sun Chemical gave us access to its well equipped technology, which is needed for effective community disaster response. Sun also provided Red Cross the use of storage space, which helps us logistically in the southern portion of the county. Sun Chemical is giving generously and in doing so is helping their community through the Red Cross."

Community involvement in northern New Jersey is not a new concept for Sun Chemical. For example, the Red Cross and local law enforcement agencies currently use the Carlstadt facility to conduct a 12-week training course for Domestic Violence Response Teams.
