St. Charles, Ill.
- October 22, 2003 -- Coates Screen USA, one of the world’s largest producers of screen inks and a division of Sun Chemical Corporation, announced a line of UV ink systems that utilize new technology to improve processes for, and meet the stringent demands of automotive and appliance manufacturers.
"Our new UV product line was developed to meet the demanding technical specifications required in the automotive and appliance world," said Curt Baskin, Marketing Manager, Coates Screen USA. "Our DecoMoldTM ink system is the UV answer to IMD or insert molding. This unique ink system offers the features and benefits of UV that will give our customers dramatically faster throughput and speeds in processing."
DecoMoldTM Ultrabond, Series DMU: A patented UV "In Mold Decoration" (IMD) ink system that offers outstanding washout resistance, excellent formability and fantastic adhesion properties for insert molding applications. This ink system does not require an adhesion promoter or barrier coat when using polycarbonate film and resin combinations. A complete color range including high-density SWOP process colors as well as the new 700-color range for the most demanding special colors. This color range is designed for automotive, appliance and telecommunications parts.
MTG 3 Pack: The UV three pack system offers screen printers the ability to blend these three components to attain any desired finish. This three-component system offers a matte, texture and gloss hardcoat. MTG offers excellent durability, scuff and chemical resistance. These UV systems are available in non-formable, cold formable and thermo formable versions. The matte hardcoat is a 1.5% gloss. These hardcoats do not require the use of nitrogen gas.
Panel Display, Series PD: The new PD-700 color range consistent with the DMU series for the most demanding special colors. The color range is designed for automotive, appliance and telecommunications parts. The new PD-799 non-yellowing clear is available for blending metallic colors. Also, the new PD-W70 super opaque white and PD-N70 extra opaque black are excellent for high-density requirements. This UV panel display ink system offers excellent resistance to adhesive delamination.
UV Window, Series WIN: UV dye ink system for printing window applications. This ink system offers outstanding clarity, scuff resistance and color consistency through the print run and does not bleed into other colors.
Super Metallic Chrome, Series SMC: Solvent based ink that adheres to polycarbonate and coated polyester. This ink gives a mirror/chrome finish that can be directly screen printed.
Print & Peel: A new print and peel protective mask, available from Autotype. A blue water based screen printable liquid designed to be selectively printed onto a range of substrates to act as an easily removable protective mask. This product offers a cost effective and convenient method for protecting substrates from handling scratches and scuffs during and post production.
