Richard Pettifor promoted to new role in North America

London - May 17, 2004 -- Charles Murray, Corporate Vice President and Managing Director, Sun Chemical Europe will now lead Sun Chemical businesses in the UK and Ireland incorporating news inks, liquid inks for packaging, publication gravure, heatset, sheetfed and WebXtras consumables.

He also retains responsibility for Sun Chemical Group operations in Africa and will continue his important role in co-coordinating news inks and publication gravure across Europe.

Charles Murray's appointment, effective from July 1, comes as Richard Pettifor moves to take up a major Sun Chemical management role in the United States. Following a 10-year packaging background with Courtaulds, Charles Murray joined Sun Chemical in 1996 as Managing Director Sun Chemical News Inks, also in charge of the coldset motherplant at Silvertown, East London. Later he added responsibility for the UK heatset and publication gravure businesses and was appointed Group Managing Director. In 2000 he became responsible for Sun Chemical's Nordic region and in 2002 was appointed Corporate Vice President and Group Managing Director.

Commenting on Mr. Murray's new role, David Meldram, Sun Chemical's President for Europe, says "Charles has been a key contributor to our success in Europe, particularly in the publications inks market and I would like to congratulate him on his new wider role."
