Sun Chemical Expands Product Line Beyond Inks to Create Total Solutions for Printers

Düsseldorf, Germany - May 06, 2004 -- Sun Chemical, the world's largest manufacturer of printing inks, is expanding its offering of consumable printing supplies available from divisions throughout Europe and in the United States.

Vivitek™, a member of the Sun Chemical Group, recently began offering U.S. packaging converters a wide range of services and non-ink consumable products for prepress, mounting, pressroom and finishing operations. Vivitek was launched in October 2003 with a focus on the heatset web offset and sheetfed markets.

In Europe, WebXtras™ and Boss Graphics™ sell a similar array of materials used in the printing process, such as fountain solutions, blankets, web conditioners, safety gear and color measurement tools. On the Continent, fountain solutions developed by Sun Aqua Systems™ are available from Hartmann™ and Coates Lorilleux™.

"Many printers have expressed interest in buying from a single source the multitude of products they use in their graphic processes," according to William Glass, Vivitek General Manager. "Printers have indicated they want to do business with a supplier who has a broad product line and the expertise to provide timely service and support. Sun Chemical has designed these consumable sales divisions to meet those needs at competitive pricing."

"While several companies offer pressroom products or services, we believe Sun Chemical - through Vivitek, Boss Graphics, WebXtras and Sun Aqua Systems - will provide a total solutions package with a technical synergy that optimizes our customers' processes," Glass said. All these divisions operate as separate companies, but leverage the sales and technical service infrastructure of Sun Chemical's global sales and technical team.

Further details on Sun Chemical's programs to supply non-ink consumables are available at drupa 2004 in PrintCity Hall 6, Booths A79 and B79. Please visit
