New World Series™ Sheetfed Inks are All-Star Performers in Pressroom

Düsseldorf, Germany - May 06, 2004 -- At drupa 2004, Sun Chemical will launch a highly versatile process ink series called World Series™, which is designed to improve productivity and set a new standard for sheetfed offset printing.

"Printers have told us that they've been unable to find a set of sheetfed inks that can run on virtually all sheetfed presses and produce excellent results on most applications," said John Adkin, sheetfed product director, Sun Chemical Europe. "World Series inks set a global benchmark and offer performance without compromise. The formulations are based on the latest technology, and the inks are designed to meet all four-color needs."

"Initial reaction from the world's largest press manufacturers to the launch of World Series has been very favorable," said Dr. Bernhard Fritz, product manager, Sun Chemical Europe. "This reaction is based on the recognized need for new, higher-quality standardization in the sheetfed process printing sector."

These inks are based on vegetable oils and are 100 percent mineral oil-free. Adkin said World Series inks offer excellent lithographic performance on large- and small-format four-color presses - including perfecting presses. These inks can be used on a wide variety of substrates including coated papers and boards used in commercial, publication and folding carton printing.

The introduction of World Series marks the first time Sun Chemical is rolling out an ink product on a global basis, according to Brad Bergey, president of Kohl & Madden, Sun Chemical's sheetfed inks division in North America. "We are very excited to concurrently launch World Series in Europe and North America. Now, multinational printers can expect similar results on materials printed in multiple locations because they are using the same inks."

World Series inks also can be paired with specially designed fountain solutions and coatings available from Sun Chemical to further enhance its performance. Adkin said the new ink series will help printers manage their inventories and increase press up-time by reducing the need for many ink formulations. "World Series also is very user-friendly, and from a press operator's point of view it offers outstanding lithographic performance," he added.

Sun Chemical will present World Series inks at drupa 2004 in PrintCity Hall 6, Booths A79 and B79. World Series inks also will be run by several press manufacturers at drupa. Please visit
