Sun Chemical Joins Woodford Litho in Unique WWW Initiative
Leading inkmaker goes on-line to publicise its work on specially formulated heatset inks for Essex printer's new KBA Compacta C618 web press which goes commercially live this month.

London - February 04, 2004 -- Sun Chemical has been a long standing ink supplier to magazine and commercial web offset printer, Woodford Litho, and from the planning stage for the Essex printer's new high-speed KBA Compacta C618 48pp press, has worked closely with them to ensure the inks used ensure a problem-free February 2004 commercial start-up. Now Sun Chemical has linked in its own special web page to Woodford Litho's website and webcam facility available on www.woodfordlitho.co.uk

When the order for the big KBA was announced in April last year, Sun Chemical's first initiative was to arrange visits for some of Woodford's production personnel to other Sun Chemical customers in Europe who are running the same type of press. These visits enabled Woodford's personnel to see the presses running in a live production environment rather than in a showroom and to have meaningful discussions with printers who know these presses intimately..

Sun Chemical have developed inks which are successfully running on KBA web presses across Europe. These products have been formulated to reflect the ever increasing demands being placed on inks as the print market becomes ever more competitive. Over the last five or so years printers and publishers have sought to control costs by using a wider range of paper grades on each press and by running presses faster. Sun Chemical has helped printers maximise the interval between blanket washes to help reduce waste and the inkmaker's Technical Audit programme helps customers keep their presses running in optimum condition and to maximise up time.

Sun Chemical also assists with specific project work to improve quality or productivity and offer advice on all aspects of printing. Through its WebXtras Division Sun Chemical offers a complete portfolio of products for the printer including fountain solutions, silicones, press washes, blankets and personal protection equipment.

Sun Chemical brings a world of experience and expertise to its customers and is proud to bring its worldwide resources to bear to assist Woodford Litho to bring its new press into full production using a range of Sun Chemical materials and products for the benefit of the leading Witham, Essex printer and the company's wide range of publishing customers.
