SunJet® to expand lineup of Crystal™ inks
available for use with leading inkjet print systems
Chicago, IL
- October 10, 2004 -- SunJet, the inkjet division of Sun Chemical Corporation, is announcing an expanded product line of oil, solvent-based and UV-curing Drop-on-Demand inkjet inks during Graph Expo 2004.
The new inks are additions to SunJet's highly successful Crystal brand of inks, formulated to meet the demands of a wide range of applications, as well as to meet the highly specific jetting requirements of the leading piezo print head manufacturers in the market, including Spectra Inc., and Xaar plc, Ricoh Printing Systems America, Konica and Toshiba-Tec (TTec).
SunJet's new inks include:
-
Crystal UFH (UV) and SOVH (Solvent) for Ricoh Printing Systems print heads
-
Crystal UFK (UV), OPK (oil based) and SOVK (Solvent) for Konica print heads
-
Crystal UTT (UV) and OPT (oil based) for Toshiba-Tech print heads
All of these new inks have been developed in partnership with print head manufacturers and supplement the existing products already recommended for use in Spectra and Xaar print heads.
"The ink performance properties for each print head design require understanding of jetting parameters and individual print head characteristics," said John Law, SunJet general manager. "For this reason, SunJet has invested in evaluation equipment for each print head type. Careful jetting analysis and component compatibility work in partnership with the print head manufacturers is designed to lead to the approval of ink formulations."
Approved inks provide customers of both SunJet and the relevant print head maker with confidence that printer concept-to-launch times can be reduced as ink and print head producers share valuable information to aid rapid development, he added.
The broadening of the Crystal line of inks, which now includes white inks and spot colors, as well as the standard process colors and light shades, will provide inkjet equipment makers and systems integrators with access to the same high quality ink technology, whichever print heads are chosen for their printer project.
SunJet CrystalT inks provide the widest available range of piezo jettable ink technologies, including UV cure, hot melt, solvent-based, oil and aqueous inks, as well as hybrid systems.
