Sun Chemical Offers Performance-Driven Additions to Printeasy Product Line for Heatset Printing
NORTHLAKE, IL
- August 26, 2005 -- Sun Chemical is introducing three new products to its expanding PrintEasy™ line designed to make the work of heatset offset printers easier. These include UltraPrint™ Universal, a low-tack ink developed for broader use in the high-end web printing market, and two Rycoline® fountain solutions formulated to produce outstanding results when used in combination with PrintEasy heatset inks.
In response to research showing that printers want more versatile, yet high-performance inks to help them hold down their costs, Sun Chemical launched the PrintEasy line of inks less than a year ago, said Mark J. Levin, president, Sun Chemical North American Publication Inks. He added that PrintEasy has been well-received, already accounting for a large majority of Sun Chemical's sales to this market segment.
"Apparently, we've tapped a real need for printers in today's hyper-competitive market who want inks that can reduce the complexity of their operations and help them be profitable without sacrificing quality," Levin said. "Now, we are building a system of consumable pressroom products that works together to increase that competitive advantage."
Sun Chemical acquired Rycoline, a well-known supplier of fountain solutions, blankets and printing materials in 2004, and since then has been working to utilize its strengths to reinforce PrintEasy's growing reputation. "We want printers to rely on PrintEasy for seamless performance," said David Hohman, general manager, Rycoline. "While these founts can work with virtually any ink, we know they team well with PrintEasy inks to efficiently produce superb printing. Sun Chemical stands behind both products to ensure their performance."
The new Rycoline fountain solutions include the PrintEasy 2000 and 4000 Series. The 2000 series is a versatile, workhorse fount capable of working with all PrintEasy inks. It improves dot gain and print contrast. These fountain solutions help presses start up quickly and reduce the need for frequent washes, which results in less printed waste. In addition to all these features, the 4000 Series has proven particularly effective for use with the ultra-small dots employed in stochastic screening. It also can help eliminate issues caused by the use of precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) in paper making, which is gaining wider usage because it helps improve the opacity and brightness of the sheet.
UltraPrint Universal is suited for use on a broader range of substrates from lightweight to heavyweight coated stocks. It offers balanced dot gain and gray balance for excellent color fidelity. In addition, it has excellent gloss, rub and scuff resistance and finishing capability with varnishes or UV coatings.
