Sun Chemical Creates New Marketing Role
Bath, England
- August 15, 2005 -- Sun Chemical, the world's largest producer of printing inks and pigments, has appointed Trevor Pratt as Business and Marketing Director for its Screen and Circuits division.
Based in Orpington, Kent, Mr. Pratt brings considerable experience in strategic market development and profitable sales growth to Sun Chemical. In this newly-created role, he will lead initiatives on geographic expansion and develop a tactical push into specialty industrial markets, including automotives, optical discs, mobile phones and credit cards, where the print provides added value rather than being the end product.
Mr. Pratt said: "As a qualified chemical engineer, coming to work for a specialty chemical business brings me back to my roots. I have joined Sun Chemical at an exciting time, as we look to broaden the products and services we offer and increase the markets in which we operate. The printing industry is developing rapidly and we will be exploring a host of opportunities that will help cement our position at the forefront of the sector."
He is confident of delivering these strategies through his expertise in market and product development, new business and sales.
As well as expanding the core business, Mr. Pratt is keen to grow Sun Chemical's presence in new emerging markets, such as digital inks, which now form a significant proportion of the industry.
Richard Martin, Vice President, Sun Chemical Screen and Circuits, to whom Mr. Pratt reports said: "Trevor's appointment demonstrates our intent to deliver profitable growth of our screen inks business in very demanding market conditions, and to meet the challenges from our global competitors. Trevor is an experienced marketeer, with a track record of delivering excellent results. We are confident that under his leadership, we can take significant strides forward in achieving these goals."
Mr. Pratt holds a chemical engineering degree from Imperial College. He also completed his Master of Business Administration (MBA) at INSEAD in France, one of Europe's leading business schools. His career straddles a number of business development and influential management roles across multinational blue chip and FMCG organisations, including Kalamazoo Security Print, American Express, SC Johnson Wax and Procter & Gamble. His knowledge of the global marketplace has been honed through positions in the UK, US and European marketplaces.
