Aqueous Coatings

Rycoline has differentiated the DiCoat aqueous coating line by end use and coating finish.  Within each category, there are multiple options depending on the end user requirements.  Products recommended in these categories are based on internal lab results and may vary on press.

Gloss
The coatings in this category represent formulas that provide a glossy finish that typically range from 40 – 70 using a 60 degree gloss meter.  The specifications for these coatings are set based on draw downs on standard lab cards and may vary when applied on press.

Primers
Primers are designed to prepare the surface of the substrate for various post print effects, from applying UV coating, foil stamping, lamination and other specialty post print effects.  In all cases, the additional effects should be tested prior to going into production to ensure the coating meets expectations.

Satin
A satin coating typically provides a dull finish that ranges in gloss between 30 – 40 using a 60 degree gloss meter.  Rycoline manufactures two types of satin coatings; one which is more transparent and less dull, and one which is more opaque, with a duller finish.

Matte
Matte coatings have the dullest finish of all coatings.  Typically the gloss levels on a matte coating range from 15 – 30 using a 60 degree gloss meter.

Folding Carton
The gloss coatings in this category are all designed for packaging and folding carton applications, but can be used on standard commercial work.  These coatings provide good gloss levels along with good rub resistance.  The key differentiator between the coatings in the series is the COF or Slide specifications.  Each is designed to provide a specific range for COF resulting in a predictable amount of slip for printed substrate.

Specialty
This is a broad category that covers all coatings that provide a special effect or characteristic.  These range from moisture resistance, heat resistance, soft feel and other unique attributes.
