Publication Coldset Fountain Solution Products

All cold set web applications, including newspapers, directory and remaining non heat set web printing fall into this category.  Products typically used in this type of printing are neutral and mild acid fountain solutions, blanket and roller washes, blankets and sundry items.

Application Options:

Neutral – This refers to the fountain solution pH, which in this case is approximately 7.0 (or neutral).  These products typically are low dosing (.7% - 2.3%, or 1 – 3 ounces per gallon) and are specifically designed for news and directory printing.  The products are classified in three categories; premium, general purpose and ones containing low voc’s.

Mild Acid – This series of cold set products are designed to run at a pH of 4.8 – 6 and will be diluted from 1.5% - 2.3% (2 – 3 ounces per gallon).  The mild acid offering is categorized as zero VOC, Low VOC and low dosing products.

FOGRA – FOGRA is an independent laboratory that provides testing to determine the corrosion inhibiting capability of materials used in the printing process.  These tests are done in collaboration with European press manufacturers to ensure that corrosion does not occur on their printing equipment.
