Four Sun Chemical Employees Honored with NAPIM Awards

PARSIPPANY, N.J., U.S.A. – September 30, 2021 – Four Sun Chemical employees were honored with the National Association of Printing Ink Manufacturers’ (NAPIM) Pioneer Award, one of the most prestigious honors in the ink manufacturing industry.

Sun Chemical’s Chris Allen, Harold Osorio, Christopher A. Parrilli, and Corey Soeldner were each presented with the award which honors those who have given more than 20 years of service to the printing ink industry through their work with one or several printing ink companies or suppliers, in addition to service work with ink associations, production clubs and other committees. NAPIM also considers technical contributions in the areas of laboratory, engineering, production or product development.

“Sun Chemical is proud to have employees with such a strong commitment to advancing innovation in the ink manufacturing industry,” said Myron Petruch, President and Chief Executive Officer, Sun Chemical. “We’re thrilled that NAPIM has recognized Harold, Chris, Corey and Chris for their well-deserved achievements and long-term commitment to the printing ink industry.”

As a global key account manager, Allen brings 40 years of experience in the printing inks industry. His work at Sun Chemical has seen him handle lab-development and product management for products sold into the ink industry, as well as receive the Art Finn Award and Bill Breagy Sales Manager Award for tremendous achievement. Allen is active in the Metropolitan New York Coatings Association (MNYCA) and NAPIM Convention Planning Committee as the Golf and Tennis chair, and he has also been a Metro New York Printing Ink Association (MNYPIA) board member and Golf Chairman, allowing him to continue to support and promote the ink and pigment industry.

Osorio is Sun Chemical’s technical manager – North American Liquid Inks, where he supports many key technology areas with global scope, including Asia Pacific, Latin America and Europe. He has made many contributions to the science of printing ink formulation, manufacturing and application, and is credited with developing high color strength and high-speed inks. Osorio is also an expert in shrink sleeve labels, lamination, liquid inks and sustainable printing inks. He holds multiple provisional patents for the development of microwaveable inks, adhesive smear resistant lamination inks and high opacity whites.

After beginning his career with Sun Chemical in 1980, Parrilli has risen through the organization to become President, North American Inks (NAI). He is an expert in the ink manufacturing industry with significant contributions to the finance, sales and operations areas. Parrilli has been an active board member with NAPIM, Printing Industries of America / Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF), Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) and other organizations.

With over 30 years of experience in the industry, Soeldner is currently Vice President of Procurement, North America at Sun Chemical. He has worked through many changes in the industry such as raw material price fluctuations, oil price volatility and supplier force majeures, and continues to collaborate on new products, supply alternatives and regulations. Soeldner has been a long-time supporter of NAPIM and is an active participant in discussions regarding government policy issues including tariffs, trade, taxes and supply chains related to the printing ink industry.

The four Sun Chemical employees will be further recognized at NAPIM’s 2022 convention, which will be held from April 8-11, 2022 in St. Petersburg, Fla. They join a long list of Sun Chemical employees over the company’s 200+ year history to be recognized for important industry accomplishments.
