A unique toolbox consisting of analog applied coatings that enhance digital print solutions, SunEvo digital coatings range from bespoke primers for a variety of substrates and printing applications to overprint varnishes, adhesion promoters and lamination adhesives optimized for use in combination with digital inks.

SunEvo digital coatings come from a collaborative initiative within the supply chain that aims to facilitate the evolution of digitally printed packaging and digital label printing, deliver improved workflows, and comply with printing and regulatory industry standards through technically advanced solutions.

We are actively working with OEMs, press manufacturers, packaging converters and early adopters to develop coating solutions matched to various digital printing techniques, delivering print quality and functionality across multiple market segments.

SunEvo coatings are suitable for use with digital printing techniques widely used today, including electrophotography (EP), liquid electrophotography (LEP), water-based (WB) inkjet systems, energy curing inkjet systems, as well as other emerging digital printing techniques.

SunEvo Overprint Varnishes

An innovative collaboration agreement with HP Indigo is a key part of this approach. Working closely with HP Indigo, Sun Chemical has developed a range of durable UV varnishes for enhancing the label resistance of HP Indigo digitally printed pressure-sensitive labels for personal care, household, chemical, beverage applications.

Part of the SunEvo range, these overprint varnishes have been formulated to provide adhesion to HP Indigo ElectroInk and have been designed to provide high levels of mechanical durability on HP Indigo printed labels. Furthermore, the solution delivers thermal, chemical and water resistance withstanding vigorous bottle-to-bottle scuffing tests, making the range the ideal choice for ensuring high durability, and in some instances offering a cost-effective and more sustainable alternative to lamination processes.
