Sun Chemical and DIC Group to Showcase Innovative Pigment Solutions for Plastics at ChinaPlas 2023

PARSIPPANY, N.J., U.S.A.  – March 29, 2023 – Sun Chemical and its parent company, DIC Corporation, will feature an expansive portfolio of pigments for plastics that deliver high standards of color and sustainability performance at ChinaPlas 2023, April 17 to 20, 2023, at Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center.

Visitors to stand #14H41 will see a wide range of pigment solutions that address trends in plastics applications such as the emphasis on food safety and recycling in packaging, vivid designs and lightweighting in e-vehicles, and greater use of spin-dyed fibers in textiles.

“Sun Chemical and DIC are committed to supporting the advancement of the plastics applications by providing innovative solutions to help customers produce products with outstanding color and functionality, as well as achieve sustainability goals,” said Marc Dumont, Global Business Line Head at Sun Chemical. “We look forward to spotlighting our latest pigment solutions and talking with customers at ChinaPlas 2023 about their business and sustainability objectives.”

Sun Chemical and DIC will highlight solutions that contribute to a circular economy, including:

  • Microlen®Blue 7460 ECO, a sustainable end-of life solution that significantly extends the workable color space for compostable plastics. Microlen® Blue 7460 ECO is designed for bio-compostable plastics and enriches the coloring options between PCN green and blue, which are particularly limited when it comes to meeting regulations. This pigment is certified by EN 13432.
  • Sicopal® Black K 0098 FK, a highly sustainable alternative to carbon black, which enables the plastics recycling industry to efficiently sort and re-process plastic waste. Sicopal® Black K 0098 FK is extremely heat stable and widely supported for food contact uses, including for applications like microwaves and ovens. This pigment can be used as a substitute to carbon black in all formulations and is available in mono-pigment preparation forms.

For the rapidly developing e-vehicle market in China, Sun Chemical and DIC will exhibit their comprehensive color solutions for engineering plastics, such as polyamide, polybutylene terephthalate, and polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) compounds. A series of orange color formulations for automotive applications will also be featured at ChinaPlas 2023.

Sun Chemical and DIC will also display their complete colorants portfolio, including pigments and dyes, to support the textile industry’s transformation from bath dyeing to spin dyeing to foster a more sustainable planet. Sun Chemical and DIC pigments for spin fibers are selected for higher chroma and purer components, which are certified by OEKO-TEX®.
