Sun Chemical to Present Extensive Range of Sustainable Solutions for Flexo and Labels Expo 2024

São PAULO, BRAZIL – June 12, 2024 – During Flexo & Labels Expo 2024, Sun Chemical will showcase its complete portfolio of solutions for the narrow web, tag and label markets, highlighting the sustainability benefits of its latest product and service innovations.

A leader in driving sustainability through research and development, Sun Chemical will unveil breakthrough products at its booth located at Street A-2, stand number 3 that align with the company’s 2030 Sustainability Agenda and are part of its SunEco portfolio of offerings. Product solutions on display that enable sustainability will include:

  • Ink solutions that meet the performance protocols of the Association of Plastics Recyclers (APR), such as SolarFlex CRCL and SolarWave CRCL de-inkable UV and UV LED flexo ink systems, and Solvawash de-inking solvent-based inks for crystallizable PET sleeves.
  • Retention primer, ink and coating systems, including SolarWave UV LED flexo inks, which also meet industry design requirements for recycling protocols. Presentations of SolarWave UV LED inks will be on display three times a day at Nilpeter’s Stand #16 using its FB-14 Model D flexo printing press.
  • SolarWave FSP UV LED food compliant inks that have been independently tested and certified as non-ecotoxic, making them suitable for compostable packaging. Samples on the stand will be printed on a compostable pouch created in partnership with Flexprinter based in Belgium.
  • Innovative UV coatings based on recycled polyester with high bio-sourced raw material content.
  • A complete range of coatings and adhesives for flexographic, offset, electron beam and screen UV LED printing.

Specialty products displayed on the stand will include:

  • A full range of screen inks and coatings for specialty labels, ranging from opaque whites, tactile and full matte solutions to food compliant options.
  • A new range of high-performance SolarWave Panther flexo UV LED black inks.
  • The SunInspire portfolio of special effect products, including MirrorTech, a printable foil replacement solution.
  • Ranges of metallics for flexo and offset printing, suitable for curing under UV LED and mercury UV for standard and migration-compliant applications.
  • Inks for printed electronics / antennas for smart labels and RFID. 
  • High-quality security solutions designed to help protect high-value narrow web applications from counterfeiters through Sun Chemical’s global security solutions business unit, Luminescence.


Digital Inkjet Solutions

Sun Chemical’s booth will also highlight SunJet inkjet inks for labels and packaging applications. Using proven technology gained over many years of developing and manufacturing inkjet inks for OEM and integration partners around the world, the latest and most demanding application and regulatory compliance requirements can now be met for all printhead and press configurations. SunJet UV, LED and aqueous inkjet inks can be supplied with maximum shelf life, lower costs and a reduced environmental footprint.

As the supplier of choice for most OEMs and integrators in the labels sector, SunJet inkjet technology is increasingly adopted for packaging applications. Sun Chemical’s breadth and depth of expertise in the wider packaging market helps drive the implementation of SunJet inkjet inks in this rapidly growing sector.

Also on display will be Sun Chemical’s SunEvo digital coatings, ranging from specific primers for a variety of substrates and printing applications to overprint varnishes, adhesion promoters and lamination adhesives — all optimized for use in combination with digital inks.
